Pilates is a low-impact, mind-body exercise method with a deep focus on building core strength, flexibility, and body-awareness. Creator Joseph H. Pilates believed in the method of what he called “Contrology.” This perfect balance between the mind and body is founded on six fundamental principles of movement: Breathing, Centering, Concentration, Control, Flow, and Precision. At Frenchtown Wellness, we use the Reformer, Wunda Chair, and props, and every private session is customized to the client.
Both build strength, flexibility and body awareness. Pilates concentrates on core stability, controlled movement patterns and the mind-body connection through a defined set of principles, and at this studio it is taught one-on-one on apparatus rather than in a class on a mat.
This is exactly what a private studio is for. Michele is certified in Pilates for injuries and pathologies and for neurological conditions, and every session is built around one body. The free Meet & Greet exists so you can talk through your history before committing to anything.
Created by Sue Hitzmann, MELT is described as “a gentle self-treatment technique that enhances mobility, stability, and performance and is clinically proven to reduce chronic pain and erase the signs of aging while restoring overall well-being.” It uses specialised soft balls and rollers, beginning with the hands and feet. Its results are described as the 4 Rs: reconnect, rebalance, rehydrate and release.
Light therapy uses red and infrared light to improve cell function by targeting the mitochondria, the cell’s energy centres. This is theorised to lead to benefits such as reduced inflammation, pain relief and improved mood. The studio uses Therasage and UltraLux Health panels with two FDA-cleared LED wavelengths.
Sunlighten saunas use near, mid and far infrared light to mimic the sun’s warmth and promote cellular detoxification, pain relief, mood improvement and relaxation. This safe and natural therapy may offer benefits like better sleep, circulation and muscle recovery.
The studio uses Normatec compression boots with seven pressure levels and precision pulse technology. They are used for recovery after training and for circulation.
PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, delivered here through a HealthyLine mat. PEMF has been an FDA-approved therapy for over 40 years.
