What these therapies do at a cellular level
The studio suite, described by Michele: red light, infrared sauna, compression, PEMF, Pilates and the MELT Method, and what each one is actually doing in the body.
Studio suite descriptions
Seven therapies, one idea
Everything in this studio works at the level of the cell: light the cells can absorb, circulation that clears what they leave behind, and movement that keeps the tissue around them able to do its job. The descriptions below are Michele’s own.

Red-light & infrared light therapy
What is it and what are the benefits?
Photo-biomodulation is how light affects our cells. Photo=light, bio=live cells, modulation=influence. Our red-light and infrared light therapies use the power of 2- FDA-cleared specialized LED wavelengths, which lets our cells “absorb” light. Red-light therapy is theorized to work on the mitochondria (the little energy engines) inside our cells, which helps to improve the cell’s function, productivity, new cell growth, and restoration.
Light, both colour and invisible, is nourishment to the mind, body, and spirit. This all-natural red-light therapy is clinically proven to decrease inflammation, increase circulation, relieve pain, rejuvenate the skin, and reduce the signs of aging. It helps the mitochondria produce energy to enhance the cellular renewal process and improve energy, mood, sleep, and weight loss. As well as reduce symptoms of some conditions.

Infrared sauna
What is it and what are the benefits?
Infrared light, near, mid, and far, is nature’s invisible light and has been a well-documented therapy for decades. The proven technology through studies has shown the many benefits of sauna use by emitting the specific wavelengths that are best absorbed by the body. Our bodies are like solar panels. As we interact with light, it activates the cells’ ability to improve vitality and energy. The SunLighten sauna in our studio not only uses heat but the wavelengths of far, mid, and near-infrared, plus the benefits of red light.
There are so many benefits of regular sauna use. These include cellular detoxification by supporting the detox pathways (skin, lungs, kidneys, and liver) that eliminate metabolic waste. It can decrease pain and may help with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) symptoms, as well as reduce stress and improve mood. Studies have shown sauna use boosts circulation, increasing blood flow for heart health and muscle recovery, enhances relaxation, sleep, immunity, weight loss and anti-aging.

Compression boot therapy
What is it and what are the benefits?
Compression boot therapy has been used by athletes for years. Normatec compression boots uses dynamic compression technology from over a decade of science-backed research to provide a restorative massage using 7 levels of pressure to relieve pain and reduce muscle soreness. The patented precision pulse technology helps to increase circulation, revive muscles, reduce swelling, improve lymphatic drainage, and faster recovery time to maintain peak physical fitness.

PEMF mat
What is it and what are the benefits?
PEMF therapy (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field), has been an FDA-approved therapy for over 40 years. It is an energetic rehabilitation therapy that uses technology to stimulate cells, which may help resolve cellular dysfunction and support overall wellness throughout the body. PEMF works by sending magnetic energy throughout the body to support the mitochondria inside all cells by way of energy waves or frequencies which work with the body’s own natural magnetic field.
PEMF therapy gives support to the body in what it needs by working with our own body’s natural magnetic field to re-energize the body and facilitate cellular renewal. This gentle therapy helps to increase circulation, reduce inflammation, regulation of the autonomic nervous system, and aid in recovery. PEMF therapy is a non-invasive way to help with injuries and chronic pain and is also noted to help with other chronic conditions.
Reformer, Wunda Chair and props
Pilates
What is it and what are the benefits?
Pilates is a low-impact, mind-body exercise method with a deep focus on building core strength, flexibility, and body-awareness. Creator Joseph H. Pilates believed in the method of what he called “Contrology.” This perfect balance between the mind and body is founded on six fundamental principles of movement: Breathing, Centering, Concentration, Control, Flow, and Precision.
“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.”Joseph H. Pilates
Participation in Pilates can be for everyone. Although, “all” exercises may not be appropriate for “all bodies.” Pilates is most popular with the Mat format; however, there are many apparatus pieces included in the work. At Frenchtown Wellness, we use the Reformer, Wunda Chair, and props. These private sessions are customized to the client based on their individual needs. The results are improvement in total body strength, flexibility, balance, and enhanced mind-body connection.

The MELT Method
What is it and what are the benefits?
Created by Sue Hitzmann, “MELT is fascia-focused self-care. We use the body’s internal senses to find ‘stuck stress’ before it becomes pain, and apply soft therapy rollers, hand and foot therapy balls, and gentle intentional touch to restore fluid flow in fascia and ease in how we move and feel.”
The goal is to bring us back into our bodies as we age — to build sensory presence so we can catch the signals our body sends long before those “pre-pain signals” become nagging, unwanted symptoms.
Pre-pain signals: stiffness on standing, recurring neck and back tension, fatigue, low energy. Most people push through these without addressing them, then blame aging. We have far more agency than we think.
Stuck stress: the accumulated effect of repetitive posture, emotional load, and lack of motion on the neurofascial matrix. It changes how the body senses itself and how efficiently it stabilizes. It shows up before pain does — which is exactly why we assess for it.
What is fascia? Fascia is the body’s continuous connective-tissue network — a responsive, fluid-rich infrastructure that surrounds, supports, and connects everything in us. It helps our body sense, stabilize and coordinate movement, and its quality changes with stress, load, and how we care for it. Its quality is what helps us move, feel, age, and heal efficiently. It’s a missing link to longevity and living our best life.
MELT Fascia Hydrator
Low-frequency vibration therapy
What is it and what are the benefits?
The MELT Fascia Hydrator is a handheld vibration tool developed by fascia expert Christopher-Marc Gordon and brought into the MELT Method by Sue Hitzmann. It pairs low-frequency vibration with targeted work along the fascia, and is designed to help restore the fascia’s natural fluid flow, with the aim of supporting cellular hydration and lymphatic flow.
It has four settings: 40 Hz for gentle recovery and lymphatic support, 70 Hz for moderate fascial stimulation, 90 Hz for deeper fascia hydration, and a rhythmic pulse, an oscillating wave aimed at neurofascial balance. Four shaped treatment edges let a session follow the MELT 4R protocol.
The manufacturer describes it as a personal wellness and self-care tool rather than a medical device.
